Bergen was a nice first stop on the cruise. The home of Henrik Ibsen and Edvard Greig, it was the start of the Norwegian cultural renaissance.
We took a tour of the town that led us through the old guild houses. Wooden structures that used to house the craftsman guilds. They apparently burned down on a rather regular basis so each guild had a stone house in the back where they kept anything important that needed to survive a fire.
We took the funicular to the top of Mt Fløyen. The view was spectacular and there was a little hike to a lake. Once we returned back to the bottom Ryan and I took off from our tour group and wandered through town. We check out a couple of churches, found a great place to eat, and checked out the local architecture. We ended at Johanneskirken, the main church and then headed back to the ship.
